Here's a bit of a run down on the surf in the Lakey peak area. Firstly there is a nice little stretch of clean white sand in front of all the hotels and calm lagoon for swimming. And every local you meet in this area will be friendly and very well mannered. This community caters for families, couples and the hardcore surfers with a wide range of water activities such as surfing, kayaking, fishing, kite surfing, diving and snorkeling. There are low budget Losmen style hotels starting around US$15.00 per night, and then there's always the other option of staying in relative luxury with swimming pool and A/C, room service/cable TV/ hot and cold water for around US$45.00 per night based on twin share (so split the price with a friend) Or if your traveling alone there are single rooms at cheaper prices (A/C or non A/C). While getting to the surf generally means quite a bit of driving which adds to the cost, there are plenty of cheap places to stay. Hu’u has a range of small, cheap "losmens" available although standards can be quite poor. The best of these and with reasonably good bungalows is Lestari Bungalows. Accommodation starts at $18.00 per person a night including continental breakfast. A newer hotel, the Aman Gati, has recently opened which now provides good clean accommodation in bungalow style with fan and even airconditioned rooms and hot water, starting at $12.50 per person twin share for fan rooms and $20.00 per person twin share for aircon rooms. Excellent food is available in the restaurant, there's a huge menu to choose from at excellent prices. Besides surfing, kite surfing and wind surfing there's not a lot to do except chill out and relax. For the surfers I've never seen the Peak go flat, there's usually always a wave out there. Surfing conditions through the early to mid morning are World class and a big choice of options to surf. Then when the cross-shore wind kicks in it's time for the wind crew to get out there and have there fun. This works in pretty well without any conflict. Then most afternoons the wind backs off and allows for another session for the surfers.
